Strongly Pleochroic 'Epidote (Piemontite)' Inclusions in Quartz

Strongly Pleochroic 'Epidote (Piemontite)' Inclusions in Quartz
These crystals of epidote (piemontite) in quartz exhibit 'orange-brown' and 'purple pink -red' as two major pleochroic colours; third one was pale brown. Note the colour shift of crystals on rotation of the polarizer - brown crystals turn purple pink- red and vice versa. This specimen of quartz was sold to the supplier as "Confetti Sunstone" from Tanzania. Stone Courtesy: Thierry Pradat  research by gagan chodary from gem testing laboratory jaipur
